Student Support Team

If students struggle academically or behaviorally parents, teachers or other staff may request a meeting known as a Student Support Team meeting. Parents, teacher, appropriate specialists, and principal attend SSTs to discuss student strengths and needs. Concerns are discussed in some detail and interventions are documented. New interventions and goals are developed and a follow-up meeting(s) is/are scheduled as needed to assess whether goals are achieved. If targeted, consistently-implemented Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions are not effective over time then special education assessment may need to be considered.
